An invitation to MIDI Composers
Hello! I'm Dan Rowe, a MIDI composer. I recently came across a cool site. Keith Bramich of "CADENZA Midi Diary" has a different original MIDI improv posted each day. He solicits submissions, and posted some of mine. One of us then suggested that maybe we should have a theme people can use for variations."Design" is a ditty I wrote especially for this purpose. This theme is found in the "CADENZA" archives, along with all the variations so far. Yours can be in any size, shape, or form. By the way, you can also do a variation on a variation! Send the result to Keith-he'll post it with credits and a link. Thanks!

Well-executed MIDI cover songs can be great, but I prefer to try making my own stuff. There's a growing number of composers who feel likewise. Check out my comrades at "IMP Web Midi Composers" and the "Midiots" website. Besides collections of original MIDI files, there's also now a lot of homepages with new and exciting music.

Musical Influences
Everyone has influences, and I'm no exception. I like Frank Zappa, classical, jazz, ethnic, and soundtrack composers like Bernard Herrmann and Ennio Morricone. Also great instrumentalists, from Johnny Winter to Zakir Hussain. But I'm just as crazy about a good pop song, whether it's by the Beatles, ABBA, or the Spice Girls.
